My full workflow: product photos → 3D model → website embed (step by step)
Emma Chen
I've been getting a lot of questions from other e-commerce people about how I create 3D product previews from regular product photos, so here's my full workflow using iLove3D tools.
Step 1: Take good photos
Shoot your product from 4-6 angles against a clean background. White or grey works best. Make sure the lighting is even — no harsh shadows.
Step 2: Image to 3D
Upload your best photo to the Image to 3D tool. I usually use the Hunyuan3D model — it gives the cleanest meshes for product-type objects. For shoes and bags, Trellis 2 works better.
Step 3: Clean up the mesh
The AI output is never perfect. I use the Remesh tool to clean up the topology and reduce the polygon count. For a product page you want to stay under 500K triangles.
Step 4: Fix the textures (optional)
If the AI-generated textures look off, I use the Retexture tool with a prompt describing the material. Something like "matte black leather handbag with gold hardware, product photography lighting".
Step 5: Compress
Run the model through the Compress tool. This usually cuts file size by 60-70% without visible quality loss.
Step 6: Embed on your site
Use the share/embed feature to get an iframe or use model-viewer tag. Done!
Total time: about 15 minutes per product. My clients used to pay photographers $200+ per product for 360° turntable videos. Now I charge $50 and deliver something better.
