Text to 3D is getting insanely good — just tried Hunyuan3D v3
Jake Thompson
I've been using AI 3D generation tools for about a year now and the progress is wild. I just tested the Hunyuan3D v3 model on the text-to-3D tool with some prompts and the results are actually usable for production work.
I prompted "vintage wooden desk with three drawers, brass handles, slightly worn edges" and got back a model with correct proportions, actual drawer geometry (not just painted on), and a wood grain texture that looks realistic.
Six months ago the same prompt would have given me a vaguely desk-shaped blob. Now I'm starting to use these as base meshes and just touching them up in Blender instead of modeling from scratch.
Anyone else using text-to-3D in their actual production pipeline? How are you handling the cleanup?
